Amy Reports: With its largest attendance in a decade, the 23rd annual WAI Conference, held in Dallas, from March 8-10, 2012, could best be described as big and upbeat. In addition to a new record attendance, dozens of companies and organizations were actively recruiting new employees, producing a positive and encouraging attitude for all participants.

“This year, our numbers were up almost 8% from last year, and an all time record for us," said WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “The official count is 3,350 attendees who represent all aspects and interests within the aviation community, including military, commercial, corporate and recreational flying.”

Over-the-air TV enjoying revival in digital era
Broadcast TV is experiencing a renaissance as some viewers cut out cable TV and complement online video with broadcast TV signals, a trend some say may weaken the case for auctioning broadcast TV spectrum. TV antenna seller Richard Schneider says he sold 600,000 antennas through his St. Louis-based business, Antennas Direct, last year and expects to double that figure in 2012. Pay TV growth has stagnated in the past 18 months, while American households with only broadband and broadcast TV increased 23% to 5.1 million in the third quarter of 2011, compared with the same time a year earlier.
