Make a full transition from 100LL fuel to Diesel fuel for Cessna/Piper Aircraft.

I've heard about some aircraft (specifically Cessna) are operating better and becoming more efficient with Diesel fuel and I'd like to say it's an excellent idea for planes to burn this kind of fuel. Not to mention, it's "quieter" when it's at full throttle and to add on top of that, it gets better milage by 300 nm from its maximum service distance. I own a Ram 2500HD with TurboDiesel, and it runs beautifully! Also, it brings out more power from the engine to the tires. So why not planes? They could probably haul a lot more cargo and passengers with this kind of fuel (of course equipped with a special engine to go along with it).

So my thought is that why don't all piston-operated aircraft like Cessnas or Pipers make the switch to Diesel fuel?

What are your thoughts on this matter?
