I guess I've had the stereotypical career. How many times have you seen this scenario played out?

New hire on probation, holding 2 jobs to pay the bills.

Continued flying with the Air Force Reserves (insert: Navy, Marine, Army, Guard etc.) for security.

Recalled to active duty while my buddies stayed home flying the line.

Returned from active duty, to get re-qualified, only to get furloughed a year later.

Stay on the same plane wayyyy too long.

Finally upgrade to Captain.

Downgrade to First Officer.

Concessionary contract.

Back to Captain.

Buy that airplane that I always wanted (insert: boat, beach house etc)

Sell said airplane (etc.)

Merger, Divorce, finally upgrade to a bigger plane.

Marry a Flight Attendant.

Start a small business (...it hasn't failed yet...too soon to tell)

Wait for half of my expected retirement.

Don't laugh....it's been a great ride, but roller coasters usually are!

Mike, I do know! This is the essence of my novel... what our industry is going through, and the life of a pilot. Yes...it has been a great ride. You have to check out Flight For Control! A few comments from Amazon.
