Carl - well you can expect to pay a minimum of 85k for all your ratings.  Universal Helicopters also charges more than other schools do, so you will probably be looking at closer to 100k if not more.  Universal is great for training, they are very strict and they require a lot of hard work and effort from the student.  But I have heard many of the students complaining about the school lately with the way things go around there.

Brent - It's starting to look that I will be relying mostly on private funding. The university offers many financial aid opportunities that I would be automatically applied for if I am accepted to the school. I am looking for other scholarships and grants, as well as looking for anybody who would like to sponsor. However, to answer that question, yes I will try to use private funding. It may be very difficult to juggle paying for both a degree and flight training though...

Carl - I used to fly with Universal Helicopters in Prescott, so I could give you some insight on the operation there.  Will you be private funded?

Hello all, this seems like the right place to start asking helicopter questions! I'm an aspiring pilot and junior in high school, soon to be looking at colleges. A great opportunity seems to be at the Embry-Riddle campus in Prescott Arizona, where the university works with Universal Helicopters Inc to provide a professional pilot degree as well as flight ratings to students, which include Private, Commercial, Instrument, and CFI. Nicie birds to fly.   Landing iin the middle of the Missouri River at flood stage is exciting or hoovering at 11,146 ft on top of Lone Mountain, Big Sky Ski Area is breathtaking.    Viewing the Mountain Goats leap from crag to crag effortlessly in the Bridgers is WOW!  Flying the Big Sky Country, amazing. I should have said 6 hours a day but only every two weeks, a bit flippant sorry. South East & Midlands of the UK, weather permitting of course. R44 is on the ground now anyway for a new sprag clutch, like a lot of others!

I am a Commercial Helicopter Pilot and CFII looking for any opportunity to build time ( ferry, events, etc. )  I currently fly tours in Florida, but the season has started to slow down, so I'm looking for ways to stay in the seat.  Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.
