Obie - just added more photos to Space Shuttle on Facebook. Now scanning old slides of Hughes flying boat. I saw it fly and will do an album on it shortly. Have plans to put a lot of stuff out since am writing my biography for the family. Also saw first flight of Northrop XB-35 Flying Wing out of Northrop Field. There is much stuff in my files that I will sort through, including some stuff from NASA Ames when I was around the RSRA helicopter and the XV-15 in the early days.
Thank you Obie, I appreciate you accepting my invitation on HangarChat. Adam Miller referred me to you and I'm glad he did. I'll be checking your website out next at faaproductionstudios.com.
Thanks. :) I consider myself very lucky to have Pitts as my last name! My goal in aviation is to fly airshows, so hopefully soon there will be an Alice Pitts flying her Pitts in airshows! :D
Obie, I fly the Citation V and the Citation Bravo, mostly the V. We also operate Gulfstream and Global Express aircraft...looking forward to getting a Global type rating!
Yep, nearly 10 years since you gave me that 8 hour CFI oral exam followed by a flight check out of MCO :) Time really does fly!!
I am looking for a way to get involved in media/journalism and aviation, but I lack the contacts. I would like to get in touch with someone who can point me in the right direction. Also, I have very limited experience in media/journalism...I have been involved in the operational side of it. Appreciate any advice...contact info, etc.
I was active in toastmasters for 2 years. Have done some writing. I am a FAASTeam member and have been presenting FAA Safety Seminars for several years. I am listed in EAA's Speakers Bureau. I am interested in magazine and/or online writing...also need to learn editing. Hard to get editors attention at magazines. Looking for ways to get into this field. Do you or did you know Kathleen O'Brien? I think she has done some work in LAL, I think. She was FAA/FAASTeam SPM in LGB until retiring last December. I worked under her in the Safety Program for several years. Right now I teach at FSI in LGB.
I have attended Sun n' Fun for the past 2 years and plan on attending it every year as long as I can get transportation. Last Sun n' Fun I had presented the flag during an JROTC colorguard at the event.
I haven't listened to the Managing Safety radio shows, but would love to if I can get more information about it.
Thanks Obie. What type of aircraft in your photo?Impressive accomplishment of aeronautical ratings. Looking to add more ratings and experiences to my certificate.
Earlynext year, will be going to Brown's seaplane base fo a ses rating. Keep in touch.
Welcome to the Paperless141 Group. I hope to be adding updates and further information to the group later this week. Are you involved with any flight schools?
Thanks for your comment. Absolute best business tool I've got that's grown my company by leaps and bounds... and loving every second of using it too :)
I started flying in Sweden in the early 60's, came to Canada 1972 and started bush flying in my spare time a couple of years later. I have own over 20 factory builts from Super Cub's to Piper Aztec's and everything in between.
By living in the bush for 5 months every summer requires a lot of Gas,Propane, food, and Beer, so a bigger airplane was needed. Could not afford to buy an "Otter", so I built one.

looks like you're having a great time ...Just landed in PHL after diverting a Hawker 800 from HPN..White Plains New York...nasty weather..In a Hotel now..much nicer enviorment than 4 hours ago...talk at you soon...Jim
You know, it we usually do have a few weather days because of a snow storm, etc...but this year it's been unseasonably warm (highs around 55F) so not yet. The ski resorts are hating it. What can be really annoying is in Jan we usually get a pretty bad inversion where, when there's no storms to clear things out, the air gets so full of crap, the visibility can be SVFR or worse for weeks, but if you can get up, the air is clean and clear starting about 500-700ft AGL, you just have to get through the soup to get there...
I am serving 6 nights a week in KCVG at line maintenance and it keeps me busy. I am up in the mornings and nap in the afternoon/evenings. I am curious about what you are doing and wondering if I can help/volunteer. Human factors and safety are near and dear to my heart. Peace " ObieTek " <grin>
Well, Ya know what they say about assume. Was thinking airplane not car. Love Corvettes. Had a 1958, got crazy and sold it. Then build up a super stock 1959 that was rescued from the drag strip. That s a pic on me next to it a long time ago. Needed cash to finish new house and the rest is history. Gone to the highest bidder. Driving a BMW Z3 now.
Obie sorry we missed eachother during the SUN n FUN but I was so busy with moderating the Forum at the Florida Air Museum and then doing interviews all day long with Sun n Fun Radio Dave Shallbetter kept me busy learning the ropes since this was my first year volunteering. Hey have you been to our Blog at JRHaferAviationBlog.com? I really would like to have your comments and feed back.
Great Sun & Fun Video's! Fifi (Last B-29 Flying!) was at our airport just before going to Sun & Fun and I have a great related story! Our Installation Shop (APG Avionics) is located on the tarmac at PGD, Punta Gorda, FL. My sales office is a mile away on the perimeter of the airport. I drove over to see FiFI. As I was heading into my hanger, an old cadilac pulled up and an old man (wearing a P38 Hat) and a lovely young lady got out. I suspected that the gentleman came to see Fifi. The gal was his neighbor and friend. I knew that he would only get as close as the fence (another victim of airport security!!) I asked him and he confirmed. He could barely walk. I offered to get him closer, and took them both into our hanger and with the aid of the shop's Golf Cart, and my airport security badge, took him out to FifI. I asked the crew permission to get close and introduced them to the Major. This is when he blew us away! Sadly, I cannot remember his name but the major, at that time told us that he was, in fact, the P38 Pilot who was sent in shortly after the bomb was dropped to observe and report the damage that the bomb had incurred! He said "It was the most disgusting thing he had ever seen"! Wow, small world! Bob Hart
Just goes to show you how small the aviation world really is. You never know who you are meeting or talking to. So glad that you took the time to share some aviaton kindness. Thanks ***OBIE ***
