We know there are a lot of helo fans on HangarChat, so we thought you might like this pic of the Hiller Hornet, perhaps one of the wackiest designs for a helicopter ever!

The rotor was powered by ramjet engines on the rotor tips, which made this little scout helicopter one of the nosiest and flashiest aircraft ever.  The concept mysteriously never caught on.

Our owner, Kermit Weeks, got a brief ride in this aircraft, but we had to burn through about half the fuel on board before the aircraft was light enough to lift two people!
