Today, Angel Flight Soars had the honor of flying US veteran and Wounded Warrior, Stanford Mendenhall and his wife for treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. Stanford Mendenhall has proudly served his country. This US soldier's story began over a decade ago as he was one of the first responders at Ground Zero when 9/11 hit. His unit was one of the first available to enter Ground Zero and his heroic efforts did not come without a price. Shards of glass, dirt and other various debris entered Stanford’s lungs causing him severe repercussions with his respiratory system. After the devastating events that occurred on September 11, 2011 Stanford was transferred with his unit to the battle zones in Iraq. While deployed in Iraq, Stanford and his unit were hit by a bomb that nearly ended his life. Today Stanford faces crumbling bones, brain trauma, and lung disease and seeks treatment in the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. His wife and caregiver Linda, who has been by her hero’s side from the very beginning is also facing medical problems requiring specialized treatment in the Cleveland Clinic. Without a means to get there, volunteer pilot Mike Murdock soared to the rescue flying Stanford and Linda to Cleveland, Ohio where we hope and pray this heroic US soldier and his wife can recover fully. One 'Like' = one THANK YOU to Stanford for his service!
