Hi Adam,
I posted some pics on my profile that you are welcome to take a look at. Unfortunately, the last time I was home, Dad and I were working so hard that I didn't get any pictures. Two of them are several months old. Right now Dad is working to get the top wings painted. Are you a Stearman driver?

HI Marcio,
The book about the Ottumwa Naval Air Station is called Carrier on the Prarie written by E.M. Cofer and published by Hawley Court Press in Ottumwa. Was home this weekend and varnished the center section in preparation for fabric.

Hi Marcio,
I didn't get any pictures when I was there. I'll be there again in a few weeks for the Blakesburg fly-in and will try to get you some pictures. In the meantime, I found a link to some pics of the airport. Give this a try http://www.picturepastime.com/?s=IA&d1=2087782&f=military. We have a book that was written about the Ottumwa NAS. I'll get you the title.

Hi Kent,
Yes, it was really based at Ottumwa! Do you have any pictures from there? I would appreciate if you could send me :)! My email is: marciojuliano@hotmail.com
We keep in touch, tks !!

Hi Marcio,
Glad to help. You have a beautiful Stearman. I noticed the NAS Ottumwa marking on the side. Was it actually stationed at Ottumwa? We had Ken Wilson run the history on ours, and it spent some time at Ottumwa. I flew into Ottumwa about a year ago. There are still a few of the original Navy hangars and buildings there.

Thanks a lot Kent, I'll try the SRA forum, but anyways, your information was very helpful !
Marcio
Marcio,
That may be about the right speed depending on which prop you have and how it is pitched. We don't have our Stearman flying yet, but the one I flew several years ago ran about 85mph. Everything I have learned talking to others is that the McCauley ground adjustable prop gives the best performance and can be adjusted to give the desired flight performance. You might also pose this question on the SRA forum. The website is www.stearman.net. Hope this helps.
