AUTHOR OF "OUT OF THE TURRET AND INTO HELL" WWII AERIAL GUNNER'S STORY - STALAGS 7A AND 17B - LIFE OF A PRISONER OF WAR
Husband Earl Benson was a B-17 ball turret gunner shot down over Antwerp on April 5, 1943, and spent 25 months in German prison camps. OUT OF THE TURRET answers so many questions about what life was like as a prisoner of war; what it was like being a ball turret gunner. The presentation and style grabs young and old, enveloping them, and doesn't let go. The need to know what happens next is ever present. His condition is declining, his 89 year-old systems are shutting down and, if he makes it back to his nursing home, we will be in Hospice care, preparing him for his final "flight" into that great dimension we call Heaven.
