The Nepali pilots are great guys to talk to. These guys literaly fly at the top of the world so close to heaven, one sometimes think you can reach out the window and almost touch the hem of gods garment. I guess that is why they call it "the roof of the world".…

The Commemorative Air Force has the only flying B29 in existence, FiFi! She has been flying around Florida prior to her appearance at Sun and Fun this year. I caught her a few weeks ago when she was at Daytona International Airport, and was able to tour the plane, and got a ride in the Bombardier seat! Check my photos section for more pictures.…

The Tourism Ministry invited us to come take a look at what the Bahamas offers the general aviation community and it was an extraordinary trip. There will be lots going on and the answers to any of your light sport flying questions will be available. We at Breezer will be there at the front of the pack, and intend to do lots of flying. And at the end of the show we will be leaving for the Bahamas along with plenty of other aircraft.

Help a Rescue Dog

Is anyone making a flight from the Miami area out west and have room to ferry a rescue dog with you?  There is a sweet dog in need of rescue in the Miami area.   A family in Idaho wants to adopt him but can't fly him commercially per the shelter.  He weighs 120 lbs.  Any help or ideas welcome.  Thanks!

Airline fined for losing money

Harrison Jones

The department of transportation has fined American Eagle Airlines $900,000 for recent delays on the tarmac exceeding three hours. Didn’t I read somewhere that the airlines have been deregulated? Are the fines a deterrent to delays or a revenue enhancement for the government? I doubt very seriously if any airline purposely plans to have one of its airplanes sitting on the ground for three…

Research and inspiration for an aviation novel

harrisonjones.org

One advantage to being an author is you can justify many things as research. Occasionally I have to be inspired and this morning was just such an occasion. In other words, I wanted to go to the airport and hang around so I did. I’ve mentioned before that research is generally easy with the advantage of the internet, however inspiration is sometimes…

Old Propeller, SPAD OX-5

Any advice on how to sell an old propeller, or at least get an idea of it's value? We thought it came from a SPAD VII and I have read that some Spads tried the OX-5 engine. It is 8'-0" dia. and made of oak. The marking "SHOP 1177" may mean it was just for the purposes of manufacture, although the scars on the trailing edge tell me it was hand propped many times. The planform most closely resembles the Hartzell OX-5 props, so this could have…

B-17 Ball Turret Gunner, Earl Benson is in the hospital.

His condition is declining, his 89 year-old systems are shutting down and, if he makes it back to his nursing home, we will be in Hospice care, preparing him for his final "flight" into that great dimension we call Heaven.
