Pilots have relied on Phillips 66 Aviation fuel and our branded FBOs since 1928. We pioneered high-altitude fuels. We provided the first anti-icing additive for jet fuel. We built one of the first corporate flight departments. Our WingPoints® Rewards Program has been rewarding pilots with gift cards for being loyal to participating FBOs since 2008. We promote line safety through NATA Safety 1st PLST online training. And we help our FBOs fuel the military with our Partners-Into-Plane, the industry's first Defense contract fuel program.
Today pilots and their passengers can visit more than 775 Phillips 66 Aviation FBOs. Tell us about your experiences, share your stories, let us know how we can work together to make general aviation’s future brighter.

In this article in PP magazine, what do they cite as the reasoning behind the 90' runway orientation? Do they list any examples?
Having 99% of my flight time in the 'Mountain Regions' of the USA (according to 14 CFR 95) I'm racking my brain trying to recall an airport that is laid out that way.
Interesting info.
Myth or Fact Answer: According to the March 2012 edition of Professional Pilot, this is a fact as airports in the coastal and mountain regions are oriented at 90⁰.
Yay! Glad you liked your prize package, Stephen!

Just got my prize package! Awesome! I like the hat a lot. Thanks!
Myth. The geographic location doesn't matter. Runways always 'go with the flow' unless terrain or some other physical attribute dictates otherwise.
Some airports in mountain regions you can be certain the winds will be flowing within +/- 5 degrees of the runway numbers 95% of the time. Some terrain features make it very difficult for wind to flow any other way.
;-)
Myth or Fact: Airports in the coastal and mountain regions are typically oriented perpendicular to the prevailing wind flow. First HangarChat member to respond with the right answer receives a Phillips 66 Aviation HAT!
