"On the ice question: Myth.  Ice can form in many other places besides clouds...one example is supercooled water droplets that fall from the sky, but they do not form ice until they impact something on the way down, like your wing. :-)"

"Myth. The geographic location doesn't matter. Runways always 'go with the flow' unless terrain or some other physical attribute dictates otherwise. Some airports in mountain regions you can be certain the winds will be flowing within…"

"I see what you are saying, I understood the question as written to mean that the treadmill was the only thing moving and was somehow providing lift. That's what clarifications are for. :-)"

"I think there needs to be a clarification on the definition of the 'treadmill'. If an airplane were stationary and the world was the treadmill, spinning backwards, then it would need to 'fly' forward in order to keep from moving…"
