I have been using he bag for over a week now and i must say they are great. no more digging around trying to find stuiff - its all there all safe and sound - brilliant invention and highly recommend anyone who flies having a bag like this - there is nothing to compare it to.

Hey Ross, thanks for your reply.  The bag is already great for me, but now you've added D-rings.  Perfect for hangar and locker keys -- I know there is a key ring inside, but that's for the airplane key :)

I know what you mean by pocket sidewalls and pouches.  Was never a problem with me, but good to know that you're always improving.  A4 is not just Europe, it's the standard in Asia also, so now I really want the third gen :(

A bunch of fellow pilots saw my bag about two years ago in Manila, and they loved it.  They are based in Hong Kong.  When I bumped into them again a few months later somewhere else, they were sporting the new bags.

Also, some genav pilots I met last year in Singapore-Seletar had them.  Finally, I did see two bags for sale at a pilot shop here in Bangkok, so either you already have a dealer here somewhere in Asia or people are simply importing them.

Genav, airline and military aviation are booming here in Asia, so don't miss out on the opportunity.  Asia is a mixed bag, from the mountain airstrips of Sumatra to the skyscrapers in Singapore, to the beach at Pattaya, so a bag that has customized pouches for everything from a fuel sampler to a toothbrush is quite useful.

Adam,

The iPad will actually fit in about 4 spots on the bag WITH the cover.  It will fit in the back cover, the inside slip, the Documents section, and if you unzip the divider zipper at the top, you will find the other back cover of the Headset bag.  It was recently written about in Plane and Pilot as the ultimate iPad companion.  Mess around with it.  I am confident you will find a good spot for it.

I have been using my brightline bag all weekend and its fantastic - all the pockets are soooo good and really useful - easy to carry and looks cool as well. I managed to squeeze my ipad into the back pocket where the charts go (without the cover) be great if it was about 1/2 inch bigger to i could get it in with the cover. Never will i use my old flight bag again - thanks brightline for inventing such a great bag.

Well, let's see...  The Third Generation is our current bag.  Because of our rapid growth overseas (Europe, Australia, South Africa, Dubai, Japan, etc) we needed to accommodate the European A4-sized paper.  So we made the bag one inch taller. It now fits manilla folders, clipboards, and even 13" laptops.  We improved the zippers and the zipper pulls. (The zippers are really smooth and durable, and the zipper pulls are rigid injection-molded custom-designed.)  The shoulder strap is greatly improved.  There are now little side-walls on the inside of the front panel pockets that keep the pocket covers from flopping all the way open (the pockets act more like pouches now). There are D-rings on the outside to let you clip stuff to the bag. The business card holder on top is better.  And overall, we changed manufacturers which resulted in even better fit-and-finish.  It was a good set of improvements.  Most of which were driven by customer suggestions and requests.  And we've always had a basically-unlimited warranty.  Any problems?  We make it right.

We have a network of about 250 dealers all over the world, but we always need more.  So if you know anyone who would be interested in carrying the bag, we have a great dealer program.  (We also have an affiliate program.)

I hope this answers your questions Tonet.  Thanks for asking.    - RB

I bought this when it was first launched.  I loved the bag, hated the flimsy wimpy straps.  It also needed more robust zippers -- the first ones lasted just minutes under heavy use.  It's always the small things, right?

Then the second generation came out.  I gave my old one to my son (also a  pilot), and bought the new one for myself, haha!  I live and fly in Asia (Philippines, Thailand, Singapore) so it was quite an investment, hand-carrying this home from a business trip in the US.  And robustness is important out here.

Great bag!  What the heck is the third generation?!  Are you selling in Asia already?

Thanks for kind words.  Glad you like your bag.  And of course, as you might imagine, we've continued to improve the bag.  We're on the "third generation" now.  Nothing major, just small things that make the bag even better to own and use.

I've had the 2nd gen Brightline for over a year and love it - went through quite a few flight bags over the years until you built me the perfect cockpit device!  The video was definately the closer when I was looking.
