B-17 Ball Turret Gunner, Earl Benson is in the hospital.

His condition is declining, his 89 year-old systems are shutting down and, if he makes it back to his nursing home, we will be in Hospice care, preparing him for his final "flight" into that great dimension we call Heaven.

Never Too Old to Love Flying

The Miami Herald had an article this morning featuring a group of octogenarian pilots. The interest in the safety issues involved in "seniors" flying arose after the Reno tragedy. As you will see, there is a good number of pilots flying in the senior age group. They are active and safe pilots.

Wings over the Miami is very proud of one of them. He…

Sign Up woes

I cound't sign up through Safari, iPhone, iPad, Twitter, Gmail, or Yahoo. Why do you limit membership to those able to upload a photo? I borrowed a PC to join and added a random photo so I can have a look around but I don't think I will hang around too long if the process is too unfriendly.

Huh?

The question asks, "Where are you now?" That's not the hard part - the hard part comes when the flight attendant calls up front and asks, "Where are we now?"

Returning from Oshkosh

Many of us recently returned from an annual trek to Oshkosh, and will soon be putting the summer behind us for a cooler fall, hopefully.  Pictures now circulate the internet full of those Oshkosh Memories.  Some on our Freeflight Aviation website, and some on our Freeflight Facebook Fan Page. Many friends have also posted their…

Multi Engine Time Building

Beware:  Do NOT use Accelerated Professional Pilot Program, Inc. or Time Building Central LLC (both run by Anthony Budreau) for multi engine time building.  My 21 yr. old son (UND Aviation major) prepaid for 15 multi engine flight hours.  He flew 10 of the hours.  However, he has made multiple attempts over the past month to schedule the remaining 5 hours.  Anthony always has an excuse why he cannot schedule him.  Today's excuse for not being able to fly this week is that "all the planes are… Continue

Flying with the pro's

FIFTY…THIRTY…TEN…

A semi-urgent computerized male voice calls out my altitude. I stare at my radar altimeter, trying to make this landing smooth. I hear and feel a thump, 14 wheels coming into contact with the ground. A bit smoother, but I’m off centerline again. I call for flaps 15.

“Flaps 15,” my co-pilot responds, moving the flaps handle to the takeoff setting as I slowly advance the two throttles. I click the TOGA switch and am pressed into my seat as the two huge Pratt and… Continue

History of HangarChat.com

History of HangarChat.com

HangarChat.com was launched less than 8 weeks ago after 2 friends were looking at pictures of their flying adventures across the USA and Latin America and wanted to share them with the people they knew who were passionate about flying.

After developing the prototype social network and using it to connect with the contacts they had made around the world, they decided to spend some more time developing the concept into something…
